ARMADILLO is now the ‘National
Shield’ for the United Kingdom
ARMADILLO Interlinking Tactical Riot shields are
in United Kingdom service right across the nation
with only the London Metropolitan Police still
using an ag
All other UK police forces, all Prisons, metal
health organisations and all UK Armed Forces
adopted Armadillo shields and modern Armadillo
tactic s 20 years ago.
The Northern Ireland Police beginning with Royal
Ulster Constabulary (RUC) in 1991 and now
Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) worked
alongside the UK Ministry of Defence for decades
in the Province, in this highly volatile area of the
UK. NI Prisons adopted Armadillo in C&R 1987.
The Republic of Ireland GARDA are Armadillo
users as are UK United Nations peacekeeping
forces and various other specialised UK police
agencies such as British Transport Police.
Training and tactics are regularly updated
including UK’s unique Mutual Aid programme
where surrounding forces aid any other force if
needed in an emergency
Since adoption, well over 300,000 officers have
been Armadillo tactically trained and equipped
Globally ARMADILLO Interlinking Tactical Riot Shields are in full-time service in numerous countries
where each adoption has been structured around the laws and procedures of that nations policing,
prisons and armed forces. ARMADILLO is a tactical riot shield offering numerous options to disperse and
resolve any crowd control situation using Human Rights compatible methods proven after decades of inservice knowledge, combined with the very latest Less Lethal technologies, where appropriate. It has
been reliably estimated that well over a MILLION officers and troops have been ARMADILLO tactically
trained and equipped over two decades. The most recent being the United States which is only now
reviewing its Public Order Policing and tactics.
